How do I join St. James?
First we invite you to attend and enjoy your time as our guest.
All people are welcome to attend services and programs at St.
James. It will help us connect with you if you fill out a
visitor card and introduce yourself to one of the greeters at
the Sunday services.
Once you have decided that you would like St. James by-the-Sea
to be your church home, here are a few ways to become a member of St. James:
-
I am already an Episcopalian
If you are already a communicant in another Episcopal church,
simply request a letter of transfer
from your current church.
-
I am not Baptized
If you are not baptized,
the first step is to meet with one of our priests. They will
explain and lead you through the steps necessary for
preparation.
-
I am Baptized
If you are a baptized Christian you need just to record your
baptism in the records of St. James. If you know the date and
place of your baptism that is helpful but not required.
-
I am Baptized but have not been Confirmed
If you are baptized, but not confirmed, we recommend our
confirmation classes which will help you understand the history and structure of Episcopal
worship. Confirmation is the sacrament by which adults confirm their
commitment of faith
made on their behalf when they are baptized. Currently, we use the Via Media program as preparation
for adult confirmation. There is also a special program for young adults. These programs are held
periodically throughout the year. Please contact the church office for information on their scheduling.
If you have any additional questions about how to join St.
James, please contact the
church office. |
