DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRIES

Our mission is to provide a gospel centered curriculum that welcomes, supports and nurtures our young people across every stage of their spiritual Journey.

Sundays

Most Sundays will offer 3 components for all our age groups.

Education, Worship, Community

9:00- Intergenerational Gatherings: All ages (and we mean all ages of the church) will have the opportunity to meet together during the 9:00 hour several times this Fall. These Sunday mornings are a time to gather as a church body, learn, pray, grow and PLAY. Each gathering will have a theme and be the education offering of that Sunday for all.

10:00- Worship/Children’s Chapel: Each week, all children/youth will meet in the church for the 10:00 church service. The children can choose to sit with their classes or with their families. Weekly Bulletins and Service books will be provided each Sunday in the back of the church. After the Gospel reading, 4k-5th grades will be dismissed for further worship—songs, prayers, feast, outreach, study and crafts—in the Godly Play Room for Children’s Chapel.

11:00- Community: At the completion of the church service, all age groups are encouraged to stay for community during “coffee hour” on the lawn. Here we will have games, refreshments and fellowship for all ages. Youth Group (6th-12th grades) will meet in the Courtyard from 11:15-12:00 during this time twice a month.

Children

Children’s Ministry has 2 age groups to accommodate all ages of developmental milestones and personal faith journeys.

Nursery/Family Room (0-3 years): The Nursery will be staffed with two leaders from 9:45-11:15 in our upstairs nursery. Here our little ones ages 0-3 will begin building their spiritual foundation through play and discovery. Nursery children will enjoy story, crafts, and feast each week. Parents of children ages 0-3 years are warmly invited to stay with their children during the service as the Nursery is also offered as a Family Room for our 10:00 service. The service will be live-streamed and parents are welcome to make themselves comfortable with their little ones in this space.

Children’s Chapel (4K-5th grades): Our children 4K-5th grades are invited each week to Children’s Chapel located in the Godly Play Room. Children are invited to leave the service after the Gospel reading for class. Each week they will review the liturgical calendar, hear a story, create a reflection craft, sing songs, come to the table with feast, and pray. We use a combination of Godly Play stories, ECC, and children’s books to guide us.

Youth

Youth Ministry focuses on ages 6th-12th grade. Youth group will attend the 10:00 church service for their hour of worship. Here they can sit together as a youth group or with their families. Youth are also welcome to volunteer in Children’s Chapel with a max of 2-3 youth at a time. Youth group meets twice a month after the 10:00 service in the courtyard. Here we will feast together and study the Gospel readings and service topics of that Sunday. We use resources from faithtogo.org, Bible Studies That Work and Transforming Questions by Forward Movement.

On the Sundays that youth are not meeting for Youth Group, we invite the Youth to participate in community on the lawn. Here we will have games, snacks and opportunities to mingle with the entire parish.

Outside of Sundays, youth have planned SJBTS youth events as well as opportunities to join other diocese youth for EDSD youth events throughout the year.

Special Events

Spiritual journeys need to be nourished and supported in a variety of different ways and settings. Events outside of church are always being planned and curated to help grow our faith and community.
